Characteristics of the Local Government workforce

A range of qualifications have been developed to support the diverse skills of the local government workforce. The qualifications include the outdoor workforce supported by specialist qualifications in operational works, administrative staff and those working in specialist planning, regulatory services or health and environment roles.

Many specialists working within local government may choose to undertake a relevant qualifcation from another Training Package that meets specific occupational requirements. These people may undertake a subsequent qualification from the Local Government Training Package that reflects their evolving skill development needs and career pathwaysin, for example, local government administration or management.
